TeamSite Search: One TS Search for DEV & PROD ?

Hi,

This is regarding TeamSite search. Is it possible to use one TeamSite Search server for separate TeamSite Servers: for eg, DEV and PROD TS which will have same branching and content to use 1 TeamSite Search server for searching. Or do we need separete TS Search per TS environment?

I know in TS and TS Search we have to specify the each server's configurations that it can communicate. But is there any possibility or workaround to have 1 TS for separate TS servers.

Any help is much appreciated.

I doubt it is possible. What is the issue? On the Dev server you should install search locally

Unless HP Support has some undocumented configuration options, TSSearch can only ever connect to a single TeamSite instance.

Due to a new set of hardware costs, I was wondering whether is it possible to use one TS Search for multiple TS instances.

Your Dev and Prod servers share the same content?

No, they don't. DEV & PROD are on totally different stores. Only the structure of the branch, workarea will be same.

Then install search on the Dev server to handle Dev content and on the Prod server to handle Prod content. If you want, you can have a seperate Prod Search server.

IW Support: The answer is No. Its one to one. Each Teamsite server requires to have its own Search server and can not be shared with other TS servers.

As each TS server is in sync with its own search server and can not be shared.

I wanted to check about this option as I had high performance issues when TS Search is enabled. It was on 7.3.2. Then IW recommended to keep it in different server!

Search on 7.3.2 without any of the many subsequent patches was a POS. It was non-usable. 7.4 was created to resolve all the Search issues. That I discovered for them, BTW. Andy - pat me on the back, please.
