TeamSite 7.4.1.1 crashes/instability - help needed

Hello all - having some strange issues with TeamSite 7.4.1.1 - basically it will sometimes get stuck during the business hoursand throw a 404 error on the login page. we have to run an iwreset -a to get it back up. I already have a case working with HP but would appreciate any help/feedback. I dont see much in the logs besdies stange errors about sentinel files?

Some of these look strange. The message in iwtrace.log seems like it is trying to start TS server on the iwreset -a.

The error about failing to deploy teamsite.war, if this is really fixed with iwreset -a, is likely the issue.

I would concentrate on the server.log and iwjboss.log to see if there is more information on why it failed.

Do you use the TeamSite UI? I tend ot avoid it and turn it off for most people.

Have you customized the UI at all?

Obviously you are on DOS, what rev?

I'd say JBoss failed to boot because iwserver is not up.

My suggestion would be to force stop iwserver if it's running at all, then check whether that TSRunning file exists, delete it if it does, then try starting up iwserver.

And because that looks like a network share, I have to ask.. you're not pointing multiple TS servers at the same content store, are you?

good feedback guys - thanks - answers below...

1) we use TeamSite UI but have had a lot of problems with it and are trying to move away from it. is there a way to turn it off globally? or is it still the only per user setting? TeamSite UI is a hot mess and has been nothing but problems for us

2) we have customized the UI slightly, mostly the TeamSite UI but we could roll these back

3) we are on win2008 server r2 64bit

4) we dont point multiple TS servers at 1 store, BUT we do have our store on NAS storage so we had to do the iwov provided workaround (when installing temporarily point to a local drive, but then update registry key to point to NAS location)

If I recall correctly, if you are using a NAS for your backing store for a Windows implementation, you have to setup a DOMAIN account to run the TeamSite service - and the account needs a bunch of different policy settings and such (they used to be covered in a KB article - 49040 - not sure how to access that KB from the HP site, since that was from the Interwoven days)

From a past project (several years ago) - the notes I had included:

Act as part of operating system
Bypass traverse checking
Create a token object
Generate security audits
Log on as a service
Log on locally
Replace process level token
Take ownership of files or other objects

However, you should probably contact HP to get a hold of the full KB article (and/or any other documentation regarding this kind of setup)

we had another crash during business hours...the Jboss server just shut down unexpectedly. any ideas?
