How to copy metadata

TS741, WS8 1) I want to cipy a DCR/ At the same time I also want to make sure that all the metadata attached to this DCR is getting copied ? Does default "Copy" function copy all metadata ? (My system was down when I wanted to ckecj this) ? If not, then how can I copy over metadata with DCR content ? 2) It appears that I may have to customize "Copy" command. I dont know how to do that. What steps do I need to follow to customize "copy" with metadata ? Thanks

If you copy (or copy to) in the UI then metadata is copied as well.

If you are copying to another server you can use OD or copy the files and write a script to copy EAs

I thought copy command makes shallow copy of DCR. Whats this shallow copy then ?

If shallow copy means just copying content, then was this "Copy" function making shallow copy in earlier versions of TS ? OR is it some other function which makes shallow copy (may be "move") ? Does "Move" function move metadata as well ?

Who said anything about a shallow copy? That's not a thing.

one of my collegues had posted a question about this. And in the rely, it was mentioned that copy makes shallow copy and move OR clone makes copy of all exte attr also

So is this not right ? By the way, this was way back. May be year or two.

The only thing resembling a "shallow copy" on TeamSite is if you're on a unix system and you create a symlink. However, you can't do that through the TeamSite UI nor the CSSDK, and it's generally discouraged anyway because it muddies your version history.

There's also no such thing as "clone" as an operation in TeamSite.
