URL scope of .page

I recently faced a scenario, which made me think further.

Scenario:
http://www.scenario.com/sites/scenario/en/iFrame_multiple.page?url=/first.page

This page contains two instances of iFrame.component (s) and this iFrame.component dealing with the url sent from browser, if an url is not sent it will consider the default url present DATUM with name url..... And it is working for single instance.

Now, I want to use same component to achieve multiple iFrames in a .page, so I added the component two times and now I want to pass one url from browser for first, want to set default value for second.... But the url passed overriding the urls of first and second.

Note: if we can change name of Datum name from url to url1 when I add first instance of iFame.component and to url2 when I add second instance.... Simply solve the Issue.

Can anyone break it ? and let me know if you need further understanding.

I'm puzzled by your design and, without understanding the context, I think you're going to run into many more of these types of issues with your iframes..

Anyway, your problem is a common one regardless of the nature of your components. The problem is that you're trying to build in two different behaviours into the same component. They're similar enough to combine but you'll need additional Datum flags and a Java External to pick apart where your URL should be coming from based on the context. If you don't want to go the Java route, you'll probably have to split your components into iFrame-StaticURL and iFrame-DynamicURL.

Thanks for a very quick come back.

I could have provided a better understanding of the problem, so that I can receive exact solution for my Scenario... here it is.

iFrame.component

contentXML contains two datums named URL and urlsmall(exposed=false). That mean Bussiness user while adding component to his/her page can provide a urlLink for URL.

appearanceXSL contains

$url is defined in such a way that will pick up urlsmall if it has a url, if not it picks URL(default)...

if(urlsmall!='') url=urlsmall
// java will read the urlLink sent in URL scope and set to urlsmall
// eg: www.scenario.com/multiple_iframe.page?url=first.page
// urlsmall=first.page

else if(URL!='') url=URL
// if urlsmall not has value, then take default value provided by business user.
//eg: www.scenario.com/multiple_iframe.page
// URL= default.page

The above case is working 100% correctly...

The problem raised when business user adds two/three iFrame components to the page.
say he/she added two instances of iFrame.component
first, second instances have different default urlLinks , provided at page level editing of component.
i.e default1.page and default2.page
and Now want to change the default urlLink of second instance from default2.page to newURL.page

but the problem raised here, this newURL.page is taken/override on default1.page and default2.page which was wrong.

To solve this multiple iFrame component, the design needs small modification...
Note: I do have a thought, If I'm able to change the DATUM name URL to URL1 when first instance added and to URL2 when second instance added and so..on. i.e., dynamic name for DATUM. Is it possible?

No, you can't change parameter names when you're authoring the page. It sounds to me like you if you want one of the components to always use the default and ignore the query string, then you should add a checkbox datum to allow users to say "this component always uses the default specified here". If you need the two frames to read from different query string params, you'll need to change the datum that reads the query string to one that allows authors to specify the name of the parameter from which the URL should be retrieved, and then use a Java external to retrieve it.
