missing permissions

One of our users got the following error while trying to edit a file.

Missing Permissions
Launch pad does not have all the permissions it needs:
Cannot read user information on the local machine. Launch pad cannot operate.

java.security.AccessControlException -
access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission*read,write)

My question is if anybody encountered this issue before and what could be the possible reasons for this error.

When you first try to download a file via launchpad the browser will ask you if you want to allow the applet the ability to read/write to files.

If the user says no there then I think you will get this message.
