Author is not able to see the templates when creating a new page

In our TeamSite, anyone in the author role not able to select a template when they create a page, nor can they add components or templates in the page editor. For admins and editors everything is working fine. Can anyone help us on this urgently?

This sounds like a role-permissions issue, look at all the attributes the Editor role has, and compare them to the role-permissions that the Author role has (I recommend using iwroleadm from the command line to put the information into files that can then be compared).

At my last gig, we created a custom Author role (e.g.: "custom_Author") based on the OOTB Author role with some additional attributes enabled to allow their authors to work with templates and components - I don't remember the specific attributes we added, but once you compare the two roles it should be much clearer which ones are likely to have the desired effect; and then you can do a bit of change testing to verify it.
