Integration with Git or Amazon S3 bucket

Hello and thank you for your expertise. I am new to this forum, and the product.

I have several teamsite based applications using OpenDeploy to push new content. I am able to set targets for the content like staging and production web servers, utilizing the receiver functionality.

Has anyone used OpenDeploy to move content to an S3 bucket? Or a git repository? I tried searching for plugins or configuration scripts but came up empty.

I have done S3FS

You have two choices, S3FS can be mounted as a Unix FS. You can can just deploy to it. Not really fast but it works.

The other option is to write an S3 deployment adapter. That puppy works nicely but takes some development to do. With the odd way OD uses the deployment adapters, it is of marginal value (you have to push the file somewhere else and then push it into S3). The adapter is really quick and if you are doing a lot of content pushes, then writing one is worth while.

Have not tried GIT but you can likely write an adapter for it, I use it a bunch and just ahve not found the need to write one.

@aleo, I haven't tried the S3 but I did some work with git integration.

I wrote a wokrflow task to push changest to git using jgit. It will be similar effort to do this in OpenDeploy and from my experiance regrading jgit, I would recomend not to use it and just make use of the git ctl commands and the open deploy function to execute commands post deployment.

Just deploy to a checked out repository and once the deployment finishes run the following commands:

git add -r .

git commit -m "commit from OD"

git push origin

This should solve your problem and it is really easy to write, the only downside is that you need a temporary storage for this to work.

@nipper, When you say "the odd way OD uses the deployment adapters" do you mean the support for transaction deployment?

No I mean the way that OD pushed the files to a dummy location and then starts the OD adapter. There is no reason you couldn't run the adapter on the TS server.
