Teamsite driver mismatch while upgrade 7.2.1

Hi,

I am trying to upgrade Teamsite 6.7.2 sp2 to 7.2.1

I could successfully install all the infrastructure components.While upgrading the Teamsite component I got upgrade unsuccessful message.I then removed the entry for Teamsite 7.2.1 from inventory.xml.

I had to forcefully quit the installation due to some reason.Now when I run the installer again.It does not detect the Teamsite version 6.7.2 and also now teamsite service is not coming up.

Below is error snipet.

What OS are you running on ?

Make a call into support.

They will probably tell you to manually remove TS 7.2.1.

Thank you for the reply.

OS version is Windows server 2003.

Also to add to the details of the issue.When I view the control panel it show Teamsite 6.7.2 as installed.

You have either of these ? (7.2.1 Release Notes)

TeamSite 7.2.1 can run on the following platforms.
Windows
 Windows 2003 Server R2 Enterprise Edition 32-bit
 Windows 2003 Server SP2 Enterprise Edition 32-bit

Perhaps TeamSite failed to shut down during your upgrade, which would have prevented the new iwfsd drivers from overwriting the old ones (because they were still in use). You could try backing up the existing iwfsd.* from C:\Windows\System32 and manually replacing them with the new ones from your .iwpkg file.

I dont find any iwfsd drivers in 6.7.2 installer data.

There is one thing that I observed, the drivers present on the path C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and the ones present at

\iw-home\winnt\system32\drivers\w2k\i386 are not the same.

Can I try copying the drivers present in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers to

\iw-home\winnt\system32\drivers\w2k\i386 in order to sync.

You want the 7.2.1 drivers, don't you? That's what you're upgrading to? They're not in the installer data, they're only inside the .iwpkg. Open with a ZIP archiver.

The correct location for these files is WINDOWS\System32\drivers. I don't know why you have that other folder. I wouldn't copy anything to anywhere without a backup, and without knowing which are which. Again, I suggest copying from the .iwpkg (since you know those are the right ones).

Did you stop the TS 6.7.2 iwserver process before starting the upgrade? I know the software should of detected the running and stop it, but most of the time they don't. The drivers were probably still in use and did not get updated.

I hope you had a good backup of the entire server before you started this, because the best course of action right now is to restore the entire server and start over again.

You should probably check with Support to see if they can provide a reasonable alternative solution, but at this point I think you may have gone too far down the road with the failed installation for them to provide much in the way of alternatives.

The problem is the iwinstall.... Without that, it is hard to do any uninstall, install, upgrades, etc... You can try to look for how to do an uninstall manually.. Then install the 6.7.2 if you still have the binaries for those. Then copied over the your backed up iw-home folder to this new install... Then you'll be where you started.... You can try to call support, and they can help you with reconstructing the iwinstall, but it might take longer than just what I mentioned above.

I was talking about a backup of the entire server - not just IWHOME or the iwinstall directory.

I.e. - to be able to go "back in time" to before you tried doing the upgrade and start completely fresh.

Hello all,

Unfortunately i did not find any solutions to the driver mismatch issue..hence I did complete uninstallation of all the components and started all over again.

This time I have done a fresh installation of Teamsite 7.2.1.

I could successfully install Teamsite and got the UI up but the problem this time was the folder structure Smiley Sad

Even if I am entering base directory path as

\iw-home, the installer still installs inside

\iw-home\Teamsite.

Does anybody has anyidea how to get rid off this Teamsite folder.

My aim here is to get all the components as well as Teamsite installed under

\iw-home.

You cannot.

The only way you can have it in /iw-home is to upgrade from 6.X

On unix you can make a symlink, I do not know if a shortcut would work on DOS.

don't you think its a bug then..if the installer is asking for installer path then it ideally shudnt add anything in the given path..

Or do you think there is any specific reason behind creating this Teamsite folder

It certainly is not a bug, it is a designed feature. While /iw-home was fine when there was 1 or 2 products, to be consistent with the other products, it needs to be installed in a sub directory (TeamSite)

i believe yhe only possible way out is to install 6.x and then try upgrade

I did brought this up awhile ago.. but could not get it to use

/iw-home. Had to resort to using

/Interwoven/TeamSite,

/Interwoven/OpenDeployNG,

/Interwoven/ApplicationContainer, etc....

You can try to use the command mklink to create a symbolic link, but don't know how well that work in Windows.

Guys,

This time I was almost successful in upgrading Teamsite 6.7.2 to 7.2.1

Installer somehow got stuck during post installer step after completing 89%.

I am attaching the updated logs with this note.

Error says:

Also, as per my findings when I do netstat -aonb. the list of listening ports does not contain port no 3035 associated with Jboss service on the server.

Update : Driver mismatch does not seem to be an issue.This gets printed coz when we are in the midst of upgradation, Teamsite service tries to run and finds the mismatch in some of the config files(as we have not finished the installation yet).
