Recovery of deleted branch

Mistakenly few branches got deleted and we are in the process of finding how to recover them. I have read through few articles in devnet and realized that it is not possible to recover as we dont have any recyclebin on teamsite environment.

I also noticed that the only way to recover is to restore the backup.

I have a back up of iw-store which has deleted branches in it. How do I mount this iw-store without impacting the current iw-store and restore the deleted branches. Can somebody help me in this regard. Its bit urgent so I am unable to dig through all available articles and documetation. Appreciate your help.

Very carefully

Find .../iw-store/default and restore that folder to a new location

Change /etc/iw.cfg to add a second backingstore and then use iwstoreadm to mount it.

Then you should be able to copy the branches back.

Finally smack around the person who deleted the branches and make certain it never happens again.

I am able to get the backing store restored on the server local directory (D:\Restore). I have added the new store details in the iw.cfg as follows.

[iwserver]

store_directory_iwstore03172015=D:\Restore\iw-store\default
store_comment_iwstore03172015=Backingstore03172015

But when I activated using >>iwstoreadm -a store_directory_iwstore03172015

1. New store got created

2. New store created under \iw-store (along with other stores)

I know there is a warning but still got created. I will resolve the license issue with HP, but main issue is how do I configure my restored backing store with a new name without creating new or impacting the exsiting stores.

Not similar but relevant, I have looked at one more article about creating new store and it seems to be resolved by removing some spaces in config lines. But I dont see any thing of that sort in my config.

Any help and thoughts.

Rather than edit the iw.cfg, what I tend to do is rename your backup backing store from 'default' to 'default_bak' (simply by renaming the folder) and dropping that amongst your other stores in \iw-store and activating it via `iwstoreadm -a default_bak`;

Don't worry about the licensing. It's generally accepted to temporarily exceed your allowed store count for these types of activities, so long as you deactivate the default_bak store once you're done with it.

I tried this and I got an I/O error. Trying to implement your plan now. I am hoping my restored backing store is not corrupted (touch wood).

The I/O error could also be related to permissions. Make sure that your backup copy has perms to match the others.
