URL task
anjani
Hi,
I am using an URL task in my workflow. The owner of the task is "IW_USER". In the java class program called in this task, we are calling one shell script.
The java file is called as the user who triggers the workflow but shell script ie getting called as "iwui" user. As per my understanding shell script should also be called as the user who triggered the workflow.
Please help me to understand why the shell script is getting called as "iwui" user and how can we run it as "IW_USER".
Thanks,
Anjani

Task-owner is workflow-internal property. It has nothing to do with os-permissions. What happens with the url-task is that the java-code is executed inside your tomcat/jboss container and this container is running under the os-user 'iwui' so any shells that are started inside your java are also running as 'iwui'.
As far as I know that is nothing (simple) that can be done about this.

As Ronald said, iwov doesn't provide a way to do user impersonation through Java, the way it used to be with PERL cgi/external tasks. The assumption / direction with the CSSDK is that you should never need to write to the file system, writing instead to the content store. The CSClient that is passed to your Java will run as $IW_USER, so there's your impersonation.
TL;DR: Ask yourself if there's a way to accomplish your goals by writing to somewhere on the content store rather than on the file system.
