Publishing submit logs to site using CSSDK

Curious to know if anyone has ever done this...

 

We have a requirement whereby clients would like to publish affected content with comments as a "release notes" type of format.

 

Currently not using published editions, but would need to in order to target specific submit logs between current and previous editions.

 

We would publish the editions with respective submit logs (with file info etc..) as "release notes" everytime a major update to content is submitted.

 

Seems everything we need to do this is made available via the CSSDK CSEdition, CSStaging, CSSubmitRecord interfaces... etc...

 

Is this a valid use case outside of Teamsite?

It's a valid use case if your requirements call for it

 

Generally speaking though, it's no different from my requirements for source control systems, as a developer. I want to be able to see a commented history of the changes made. Yours is no different, except it's content instead of code. Also, it's not that far off from how "basic" TeamSite works -- by default your submit comment gets copied onto every file attached to the job, which is fine if you want to see the history of a specific file but it's unhelpful for the changelist of the branch as a whole. Attaching comments to named editions is the correct solution, and the disk space footprint is negligible.
