CMS UI exceptions in teamsite
humanbrain
Hi all,
We are getting CMS UI exceptions in teamsite UI.The logger is diplaying java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread.
Can anyone suggest possible rootcause and resolution for above problem.
Thanks and regards,
Deepankar Shukla

Contact support and/or check the support KB. This is, for the most part, a known issue and is specific to the version of TeamSite you're running. There's a patch for nearly every case that I've seen.

Thanks,
We have installed the patch already.
But the errors are ue to out of memory exceptions and logs are showing unable to create native thread.
we have tried to decrease sitemap size it worked for some time but later again issue started reapiting again.
Also most of the time the issue is reported by a particular user with some exceptions,Can this be a issue with particular user Id.
Thanks and regards,

It's unlikely to be user-specific. You didn't say which version you're on, which could help identify whether your product still has the known issue, patched or not.
Assuming you're on a version that has fixed the known issue, you'd have to check your Java code for anything you're storing in memory for a long time. The usual culprits are storing large objects in the session or in a static variable, and adding large amounts of data to a Collection in a loop. I doubt your sitemap is to blame unless it's very large (> 10MB), at which point you should consider implementing some static caching so you're not re-parsing it for every request. Don't waste your time looking for infinite loops specifically, as that usually leads to a StackOverflowException before an OutOfMemoryError.
TL;DR: You may need a Java expert to optimize your code

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
We are using teamsite 7.2.1 hosted on windows server 2003.
The operations that resulted in the UI exceptions are mostly accessing sitemap and jsp generation, also when we reset the ui the issue gets resolved butappears again after some interval,Please suggest for the root cause for the issue
Thanks and regards,
