WFM Preprocessor Java class

Hi,
I am working on WFM first time and trying to understand the WFM Preprocessor and variables available.
Is there any way where we can incorporate preProcessor java class without running make_toolkit.ipl ? May be like compiling the java to class file and place it at a location.
Problem is that I do not have access to make toolkit to test my changes, if I update the java class.

If you're doing development work - which it sounds like you are - you should have access to make_toolkit.ipl. And if you don't have access to it, chances are you wouldn't have access to the locations where you need to put the compiled file anyway.

Tell your boss you need access if they want you to do development...

I am trying to add one CGI task to existing WF through WFM.
I created CGI script and added to the CGI task. But, when I tried to submit the workflow it shows error shown in attached.
What might be the cause and which log file should I check in this case?

You can check the server.log in the ApplicationContainer, but you're not likely to get much more than what you already have. Exceptions when transforming the model typically point to bad models -- did you validate your model in the WFM before publishing the revisions?

Right, sorry, just read that stack trace again..

If you want to know which part of the transformation actually failed, you'll have to turn on debug logging for com.interwoven.modeler.transformer.ModelTransformer via /iw-cc/command/iw.base.loggers, then reproduce the problem and check with content_center.log.

More than likely, your preprocessor threw an exception. Is your class configured with commons logging? If so (and assuming you have proper exception handling), you should be able to tell if you class ran at all, and where it might have failed. If your class didn't run, make sure its signature is correct and the WFM preprocessor command matches that.

Rick,
The preProcessor is developed by another developer and he has enabled the logging. I checked the log and its not showing any exception.
I can see the result expected out of that class (creating two xml files).

Problem might be in one CGI task, that I added. As per requirement, I need to add on CGI task as first task which has to work on the attached files.
For testing, I only added simple JS alert, in CGI to test if that work with WFM.
I am not sure if the properties I mentioned are correct. I attached the screenshot of the same. The CGI script is located under iw-bin folder and I checked the CGI independently on browser, it shows the alert.

Adding a CGI task to your model wouldn't cause the type of exception you're getting, unless your model didn't validate.

Did you try enabling debug logging on the ModelTransformer class?

Also, your custom preprocessor class won't log anywhere unless you've either temporarily enabled debug logging in the same iw.base.loggers screen, or more permanently routed that log to a file explicitly in log4j.xml (which would be a good idea).

Thank you for the reply.
The problem is solved- my mistake. It was an issue in the file name of another CGI task added.

Now, the problem is that, the preprocessor class files is adding two param as follows.
workflow.getParams().put("publishablesIndexFile", String.valueOf(publishablesIndexFile.getAbsolutePath()));
workflow.getParams().put("draftsIndexFile", String.valueOf(draftsIndexFile.getAbsolutePath()));

I believe this is added as WF variable which I can fetch.
But, in my CGI it doesnt get anything when I try this.
my $draftFilePath = $job->GetVariable("draftsIndexFile");
my $publishFilePath = $job->GetVariable("publishablesIndexFile");

Anything wrong with understanding?
And where can I get documentation to understand interfaces and objects used inside it.

Anyone knows it, if above code will work.
I read the javadoc for WFMModeler getParams method. It says
"This method returns the HashMap which will be used internally.The user is not supposed to use this map"

Also, another method addVariable, it says
"This method adds the custom variable for the Workflow Model with given name as the name and value as the value of the custom variable."

What is custom variable?
Is it available as workflow var ?

What you're doing with workflow.getParams().put() is adding *model* variables, not *job* or *task* variables. That means
* either use your preprocessor to set variables on the CGI task itself; or
* in your model, define job/task variables that refer to $IW_CV[publishablesIndexFile]

I'm saying that, but I'm not entirely sure if the second option actually works. Haven't tried.

Thank you very much for the solution.
Sory for replying late as I am dependent on someone to run toolkit for me and then test it.
I got the var values with the first solution.

but, Now there is anther exceptions that I am facing, not related to variables.
Preprocessor java class parses the attached files in job with for loop
(WFMFile attachedWFMFile : attachedWFMFiles) { ....}
This loop calls another function (onDCR) to process the DCR. Following is my scenario.

If I have 5 DCR attached to the task, the for loop works fine with all logging, no problem. But as soon as it reaches fifth DCR, after calling the onDCR function it throws following exception. I have no idea what it means.
From error, it looks like it tries to attach something, but my code doesnt.
Any clue here.

com.interwoven.modeler.workflow.exceptions.WFMException: 6100025The file with vpath "/default/main/****/XXXX/sample.DCR" already exists.)

Er.. other than job attachments, I can't really offer a guess based on just that message. Post the complete stack trace and your onDCR method.

The error message sounds like you're trying to attach the same file twice - are you sure all the files are unique?
