what are the main environment variables that need to be set on a W@K platform

I know of...

drive letter:/iw-home/local/bin
drive letter:/iw-home/iw-perl/bin

i know there is a few more, any help would be excellent

Are you talking about required environment variables or desired environment variables or just entries that are useful to have in your PATH environment?

For the latter - I would suggest IWHOME/bin, IWHOME/iw-perl/bin, IWODHOME/bin. I suppose adding IWHOME/local/bin is reasonable too.

Some folks also add IWHOME/private/bin though I'm not sure if it's really recommended.

Basically if you find yourself having to type full paths or cd into directories to run things a lot, you should consider adding them to your PATH environment.

For convenience sake, defining IWHOME is good. IWODHOME will be defined for you when OpenDeploy 5.x is installed.
