Java and .Net (DOTNET) Preview server in one TeamSite

Hi,

In the "File > New Site" dialog we saw a drop down "Display Services application type" where in I suppose one can choose between Java and .Net.

I would like to know if one TeamSite can have both Java and .Net preview server. If yes, please provide reference to the install/configuration documents for it.

Currently we have TeamSite installed in Linux with Java JBoss preview server. We can choose to install TeamSite in Windows if above mentioned is possible.

I haven't tried this, but the requirement doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Your development team and/or organization is usually either a Java shop or a .NET shop -- not both. Even if you have people that can do either, you're shooting yourself in the foot by potentially writing all of your functionality twice. Just.. why??

Our organization is very huge. We have 30,000+ content updates happening every month with so many sites. We have both java and .net customers. I want to know if this is technically feasible.

Hi Ravi,

I did it 2 yrs back on TS7.2.1 and its feasible. We installed TS on Windows server.

Interwoven provides iw-preview.net war file which you need to install on your server and configure it.

Once your IIS is properly configured for .NET, then when you can create a site and you will see other option for .NET as well along with Java Application.

On Windows both Java and dot net preview should just work OOTB as long as you've followed all the prompts to have the installer automatically configure IIS preview. You then just need to choose whether the site is a dot net or Java site using the drop down you are already familiar with on site creation (it can also be changed by editing default.site afterwards). The Java based sites would be rendered by IWJBoss. The dot net sites would be rendered by IIS.

On linux it maybe possible but there would potentially be a lot of work, and some hurdles to be overcome setting this up. There is not currently a documented procedure for this use case. One would have to contact professional services for this route.
