LSCS Query Time

Hi All,

We are having external component which will fetch lscs content based on some metadata from dcr.

The problems is,

It is taking 800 ms for query execution when we form the query which will have the "OR" logical operator.

For example:
((TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type:="Portal/products") AND (G11N/Locale:="en_AU") AND ((BusinessCategory:"****") OR (BusinessCategory:"YYY"))).

It is taking 60 ms for query execution when we form the query without the "OR" logical operator .

For example:
((TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type:="Portal/products") AND (G11N/Locale:="en_AU") AND ((BusinessCategory:"****"))).

As per my requirement, the business category can come from **** or YYY.

Anyone faced this kind of issue?.
Anybody can you suggest how to reframe the query?

Environment:
Interwoven TeamSite 7.3.2.0.0
Runtime in WAS .

First - I'm no expert in this area, but have played around a bit. things I might try include:

((TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type:=Portal/products) AND (G11N/Locale:=en_AU) AND ((BusinessCategory:**** YYY))).

Unless you have spaces in your business category this may work. I'm also not sure if you need the quotes. Unless you have spaces in your values, the quotes are not necessary.

Fixed.. the shorthand OR is a comma, not a space Smiley Happy

Your queries shouldn't be taking anywhere near that long though, as you don't have an abnormally high number of filters in play. When's the last time you ran a DRECOMPACT?

That doesn't mean there isn't something horribly wrong with your repository though, which may still bite you in the future.. so the question stands -- when did you last run a DRECOMPACT?

How improved was it in the end, I am seeing large execution times also in my LSCS queries and most, if not all of them are using "OR" as you originally described in your post.

Rick is right - do a DRECOMPACT and profile these queries again.
If execution times are still impacting the user experience, you may find the performance problems are more deep-seated issues with the DB itself.
