Form API for setRequired

hi guys,

my scenario is, i have two text fields both set as not required in a container. If we add a new container then these two text fields become required and the text fields of the replicant also becomes required.

I am trying to use the setRequired method, but the code fails at the same point.

I am attaching the datacapture.cfg

Your handler is correctly accepting an 'item' as a parameter, but then not correctly using it - especially since 'headercont1' is a replicant.

Try this:

function changeProperty(item) {
    alert("in changeproperty");
    item1 = IWDatacapture.getItem(item.getName() + "/title1");
    item1.setRequired("true");
}

This is because the address of the item in question is not "/headerroot/headercont/headercont1/title1", but rather something like "/headerroot/headercont/headercont1[1]/title1", or possibly "/headerroot/headercont[0]/headercont1[1]/title1". By using the getName() method of the item passed in to the handler, you get the actual path to the item being acted on - as opposed to the generic path used to establish the event trigger.

The path to item 1 (first title in first headercont1 replicant) should be something like

IWDatacapture.getItem("/headerroot/headercont/headercont1/0/title1");

Try to alert the value of item1.

Basically, replicant items have ranges. So you've to use some looping to get the exact item:

for (i = 1; i <=10; i++) {

var item = IWDatacapture.getItem("/headerroot/headercont/headercont1[" + i + "]/title1");

// Do something

}
