TeamSite 7.3.1 Update 2

Hi Everyone,

We've finished our TeamSite 7.3.1 (no LiveSite) installation with update 1 & 2 however the Indexer doesn't work. The only clue we have from the iw.tsindex.log is the following:

Not much can be gleaned from that. You can increase the logging levels with iw.base.loggers. That will tell you what file it failed on. Or why

Did you carefully follow all the instructions with regard to the indexer for the updates? I believe you need to manually remove / replace some of files in the distribution.

(I haven't gone through this step yet - I just seem to recall something about it in the documentation - and errors are the kinds of things you get when things aren't set up right)

Thank you. I've just found out about "http://servername/iw-cc/command/iw.base.loggers", but I don't know which logger to switch to debug mode for the CFS Indexer.

Yes, I've printed out the readme for update 1 & 2 and crossed out all the steps, except those specific to LiveSite and OpenDeploy. It's a TeamSite only installation on Win2K8 without IIS. And yes, there are multiple files to be copied and modified manually. Yet we're in 2012 and InstallShield has been around since 1992!

The logging for search isn't located in the base loggers.
Look for a file called search.properties in iwsrch-home/etc.
You will see the following:

log4j.logger.com.interwoven=INFO, mainLogger
log4j.appender.mainLogger.MaxFileSize=5000KB
log4j.appender.mainLogger.MaxBackupIndex=10

I would change the INFO to DEBUG, and hopefully you'll get more information that will lead you to the cause of the errors.

Stop Search, Index, and Idol. Then restart Idol, Index, and Search.

Search that hidden edition, see if the data is correct. If you are on Unix, you could run something like this:

find /default/main/branch/EDITION/#1 -type f -exec ls -l {} \;

Also take the system offline and run iwfsck, I have seen this happen when there is a hidden backingstore corruption.
