How to make a field readonly/hidden on form load/DCT initialisation.

Hi,

Anyone could please help me in making a field ReadOnly/Hidden on form loading(new form entry) in a DCT by using template tags and not by using formAPI script.

I am using Teamsite 6.7.1 version. And i am able to make it readonly/hidden by using formAPI script but according to my requirement i need it through templating tags only.

I am not able to do so with the existing tags readonly or hidden..

It'll be helpful to me in getting the solution asap.

Why is that your requirement?
What have you tried to do? (show code - PROPERLY FORMATTED)
Is the item that you are trying to hide, per chance, the very first item in the DCT?
