Schedule a workflow (WFM)

Hi,

I am looking forward for suggestions to schedule a workflow developed in Workflow Modelor to run at a particular time.

TS VERSION : 7.4.1

WFM VERSION : 7.1.0.0

1. Is there any method to schedule a workflow job using teamsite GUI ?

2. What is the command line method to run a WFM workflow (.ipm file) ?

you havw to deveolop it. Put a dummy task in the WF and have a timeout set fot when the event you want to happen

There is no OOTB UI for scheduling workflows to run. You would have to provide your own mechanism (@nipper already suggested one)
The command line method for invoking WFMs is iwmodelc - however the command line invokation of WFMs is much more limited than it is for WFTs, and you may need to come up with some sort of [semi-]convoluted process for providing detail specifics to the WFM after it has already been invoked (e.g.: via an external task running at the beginning that looks in a certain place and/or for a certain file to retrieve a list of things to do before allowing the WFM to proceed). This would be completely custom code and thus would be up to you to define and develop (or hire someone else to do so for you)

Note: this reply is really geared towards scheduling a task within a workflow, which is a *much* more common need than actually scheduling the start of a workflow.

Typical business need to so approve some change but don't deploy it until a certain time. This works.

If your need is to push certain content out periodically, as ghoti mentioned, there are command line tools to do that, and you can use cron or Jenkins.

With this question, I wanted to confirm that there is no OOTB scheduler mechanism for WF.

i am left out with only one option that is of iwmodelc CLT. First Task in the WF will take care of processing and generating files. Then the Deployment task will deploy them to their specified path.

What's your use case for requireing a completely separate workflow model to accomplish this? Would it not be simpler to just create a jobspec and wrap a script around it to do the scheduling part?
