Sub Domains isues in Livesite

Hi,

on Production, currently we a domain called abc.com which has microsites under /sites folder i.e /sites/aa , /sites/bb , sites/cc , sites/dd.

we have created a sub domain xyz.com and with iRule set to redirect it to /sites/bb/default.page but since all shares common folder structure. do we have any option like new sub domain xyz.com can not able to access other abc.com content in IIS ?

or can setup a new website on IIS for /sites/bb and provide home dir path untill /sites/bb so that new website hosted will access only /sites/bb content ? i tried doing this and its not working giving 404 error.

thoughts ?

Never tried it with IIS but that is pretty easy to do with Apache, I am surprised the 2nd approach isn't working.

Seconded. I think maybe your option 2 (creating a separate IIS site) needs a little bit more troubleshooting to get it working.

well its does work , if i host a whole separte site and create a seprate fodler structure and under sites only /sites/bb ,not any other sites using abc.com .

please note its .NET site hence it working when in root, web.config files is present now but if point web.config under /site/bb and home direcorty as /site/bb then it doesnt works ,

concern here is /sites/aa , /sites/bb , sites/cc , sites/dd all uses same set of asserts , like css, js ,some images so if we go by this approch we need to have a separate brach and new workflow also we have to update the assets on both the branches.

OK, again in Apache you would create rewrite rules to map /webassets outside the main docroot.

Yeah, I think in IIS there's no clever/easy way of doing domain mapping within a single IIS Site.

As nipper said, you can just remap your common assets directory to somewhere else, either using a virtual directory (ideal) or the URL Rewrite module in IIS7.
