Session State
work4u
We have two .net application running on separate applciation pool. One is the LiveSite runtime application and the other is a custom .net application. We would like to pass session state between the two so if the user is logged in to the custom application and browse to the Livesite he should not be asked to logged in again and should show as logged in users and vice versa.
How can this be achieved.

In the Java world, this is about configuring your J2EE application container properly and thus has little to do with LiveSite or any other webapp specifically. I don't know much about .NET sessions, but I'd imagine it's probably an IIS config with your application pools more so than LiveSite config. Perhaps you should treat it as any other application and just search .NET forums for how to share session state between apps.

One option would be to write a site controller in LS world that if the user doesn't have a state in LS (Not logged in) then call some API (REST?) passing in the .NET session cookie to the .NET world to return state information and automatically log in the user.
A challenge would be - what to do if .NET says "unknown session". I guess you throw up the login page.
Just an idea.
