Teamsite 7.3.1 reinstall issue

I tried to reinstall teamsite and it gave this error.

You either need to provide a LOT more information about what you did / what you're doing - or (and/or) contact Support.

You will have to uninstall it. Now if uninstall does not work, then you need to dump the DBs, delete a bunch of files and start over. If it is on DOS, then you need to muck with the registry as well. Don't shoot yourself. Smiley Very Happy

Uninstall works. But I cannot get to reinstall the software as it seems to believe it is already there. There are other machines with teamsite installed on them.

Would it be simpler to create a new VM and try the install again?

Most likely, yes. It's the only way you'll be sure you have a clean and reproducible install. Attempting to salvage an iwov server always makes me feel dirty, so if scrapping it is an option for you, I'd take it.

That said, the installer usually looks for very specific things in order to determine whether the app is already installed, so if you're sure you cleaned it up, you can try fixing these last bits (assuming you have attempted an uninstall of TeamSite; be careful if you have other iwov products installed ):
* there will be an entry in your common services DB, which you may have to remove manually
* remove any IWHOME env vars, and any iw-home/TeamSite folder
* (Win) remove any interwoven/teamsite registry keys, including keys for services
* (Nix) remove any /etc/iw*

If you go from a new VM, then that is easier. You will need to dump the DB if the DB is on a different server. Hope you have a snapshot and do not need to rebuild.

Also, you need to make sure to delete the iwinstall folder. I don't know why, but they still look at this folder and if it is the information about iwov products, it will cause different ugprades/uninstall/install to not do it correctly. But I agree that vm is a good way to go. If your teamsite is hosed like mine at the moment, then you can always bring back a previous snapshot.

You could also look at the Installation manual and look in the troubleshooting section. There you will find a way to manually uninstall the TeamSite, but it leaves a lot to be desired. It did not mention anything about deleting or removing the database. And to remove the TeamSite Web Preview Group.
