Od Hung issue.

Hi,

We are facing OD-hung issue regularly. We noticed that on our Target server logs, below error mesages is getting printed every 15 mins non-stop.

jutugcgcomlw1_odrcvr.log :

2014-03-27 02:15:29.024 GMT+0900 serverLog [Thread-1] - ENG: ***ERROR - Listener accept failed. IOException: java.io.IOException

OD.log :

2014-04-10 16:30:31.902 GMT+0900 odLog [Thread-1] - LIB: ERROR: Accept Socket error.

Even though deployments are running successfully. It keeps printing this message.

Found a similiar question in Devnet. They told 3 posible reasons, but None of the reason holds true in our case. http://devnet.interwoven.com/forums_vb/showthread.php?t=30070

a) Receiver is down --> Each Receiver is running.

b)There is a firewall and port 20014 and 9173 are not opened.
--> Telent to 20014 going.
--> Tenet to 9173 NOT going. But as per my knowledge, this port gets used only when its required.

c) SSL certificate problem
--> Base certs are valid and Target certs are valid.

I am having a doubt that this regular printing of error is due to some problem in OD Recvr configuration, thats why ODR is getting hung intermittently.

Please advise about the cause of this error messages so that we could fix the same and check out if OD Hung still occurs.

Do you use Secure Transfer with SSL? If you do, do you also use any port monitoring software like GFI, AGG and whatnot?

Yes, we do SSL based deployment.

I am chekcing with Unix team if we they use any port monitoring software like GFI, AGG and whatnot.

Do I need to ask them about the port 20014 or some other port?

If their asnwer is yes, can that monitoiring software cause those errors messages in od.log and jutugcgcomlw1_odrcvr.log?

Yes it can. It might be the logging of Receiver's Listener denying monitoring request "every 15 mins".

Note that I am not telling you that it actually is your problem. It may be but you'll have to check.
If that's indeed the case, reconfigure monitoring tool for 20014 (or whatever Port you use)
https rather than http or drop 20014 monitoring altogether.

Oh, well... It *seems* that something (some process) does try to communicate on port 20014
with distinct 15 minutes frequency.

Try # lsof -i :20014 and perhaps good old netstat. Your Networking/Admins should have
much more advanced tools. Explain to them what happens and ask to help you to monitor Port's
traffic
