mediabin8.1 download issue
haozhou
I create download action named donwload1, please see my attached pic1. In order to test my download action. I select an image from my collection and click the download button. I check it failed from ACTIVITY MANAGER, please see my attached pic2. also check Job History by MediaBin Enterprise Manager, please see my attached pic3. I have three questions, please give suggestion, thank you in advance.
1. The path and file name for the log output for details?
2. I only have the MBP.log, how can I modify the configuration file to make mediabin have more log files?
3. Is my downlaod action defined wrongly? or do I make the other wrong step to cause this issue? Please advice.

From the screenshots, looks like the job is failed on the MB Server side. And based on the error message screenshot, it could be because of ImageDB path related.
So, check the MBP.log if any ImageDB path related error messages. You can enable the MBWebService logging by setting "RequestLogVerbosity" to 2 in web.config of MB WebServices.
RMM client's log file will be in ...\MediaBin\Application Container\Server\Default\log folder.
MB Server logs can be activated by setting ON and APPEND keys to 1 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432node\MediaBin, Inc.\MediaBin\Paltform\CurrentVersion\Logs\ and a service restart is required.

follow your suggestion.
1. check the folder MediaBinServer\MBDataDirectory\ImageDB, for the share permissions, network service account has Change and Read permission. and for security permission, service account has Modify, Read & execute, List folder contents, Read, Write permissions.
2. set RequestLogVerbosity to 2, and set JobTrace, ParameterDump, PrimitiveTrace, TaskControllerTrace under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432node\MediaBin, Inc.\MediaBin\Paltform\CurrentVersion\Logs\ to 1, and restart mediabin asset server service.
Following are some properties in web.config
3. by the way, does mediabinAssetServer_registry.reg or idol key file need include a “download" option?
4. download action still fail. find the following messages in MBP.log
4/23/2014 4:10:26 PM NTFileUtil -- OpenFileForWrite - Error opening file \\ANSSLERIDOL\MBFTP\{099678c7-c68e-4726-baad-cb1aacfbf500}\hero_f1.jpg

Looks like still an access (Windows Error 5) issue to \\ANSSLERIDOL\MBFTP\ folder.
Try this test again:
- Try to download a file in RMM client
- Go to \\ANSSLERIDOL\MBFTP\ folder and sort by Date Modified and check the latest (around the timestamp of download action performed) folder created with an GUID.
- Open this folder and see if the file (the one you tried to download) exists there
- If the file exists, its the RMM client unable to read the file from \\ANSSLERIDOL\MBFTP\GUID folder
- If the file does not exists, its the MB WebServices unable to copy the file to \\ANSSLERIDOL\MBFTP\GUID folder
So, make sure this MBFTP has READ and WRITE permissions for MBServer service account under Sharing and Security tabs of MBFTP folder properties. The same applied to STAGING share also.
MediaBin server service account should be a domain account.

thanks. download action works.
You mention "can enable the MBWebService logging by setting RequestLogVerbosity to 2 in web.config of MB WebServices".
I don't find the file web.config in MBWebServer\MediaBinService, only find web.config in MBWebServer. so I set "RequestLogVerbosity" to 2 in MBWebServer\web.config. But MBP.log seems not generate web services messages. Please give a detailed suggestion.

If you choose default installation type, then the web.config will be in ...\MediaBin Server\MBWebServer\ folder. This folder is MBWebServices folder. Once this RequestLogVerbosity is enabled, the logs will be generated in .xml file with Date as FileName in ...\MediaBin Server\MBWebServer\App_Data\Logs\ folder.
This MBWebServices can be hosted on a remote machine if required. MB Server logs contains only Server side info.

I see the log file. Thank you very much.

The best way to verify this log file is:
http://IIS-Server-Name/MBWS-VirtualDirectory-Name/logs
Ex:
http://localhost/mbws/logs
on MBWebServices running machine.

Thanks a lot
