Hi,
Did you get it working?
We would like to know the process for calling .net basaed external through component.
Thanks,
For calling .NET code as an external in your component, you need to follow below mention steps-
1) Copy your dll file in bin folder.
2) Register your namespace assembly in Web.config file.
Eg. - If the namespace in .cs file is "com.livesite.external" then add the entry as mentioned below-
Namespace - com.livesite.external
DLL file name - livesite.external.dll
<pages><controls>.......<add tagPrefix="any name your want to provide"namespace="com.livesite.external"assembly="livesite.external" /></controls></pages>
Note:- There should be only one entry for each namespace.
3) In components Content XML section call the external as mentioned below -
Class name - TestDotNetExternal
Method Name - GetContent
<External> <Parameters> <!-- Same as you pass parameters in Java --> </Parameters> <Object Scope="local">com.livesite.external.TestDotNetExternal, com.livesite.external</Object> <Method>GetContent</Method> </External>
Kindly, let me know if this resolved the issue.
Hi Ashish,
How to set the dependent LiveSite specific dlls while creating external using .net?
Hi Sumit,
There is no need to set them as dependencies as those DLLs are already present on preview and runtime environment. You can add these file in Visual studio project.
Attached is the detailed steps and error messages we are encountering in calling External using .net.
Help will be appriciated.
Thanks

Hi Tushar,
When you are previewing the .Net external at Component level it will not work as component preview is rendered in JBOSS container which is configured for Java only. You can try one thing, in the "Preview Settings" select the site which is configured for .Net and see if it works or not.
When you preview the component on page, ideally it should work. Can you try re-deploying the dll file in bin folder.
The External is working on page.I tried using a .net site in the preview setting but still the same error.
