The only way I am finding here is call server.

Would like to know if there is any other way to do this

You are not saying what you are trying to achieve or why you want this.

But....

in normal cases I would use javascript (thus not perl) to do this. Check the manual about 'formapi' on how to use javascript inside a a datacapture-form.

That may be a "requirement" but it's not a rationale or explanation - I suggest you find out why before worrying too much about how.

A part frm answering Adams question, you might also want to explain.

Where are you getting this value from? to set the same value to hidden field.

Lets forget the setting the value to hidden field. the answer for this depends on

1. where is the value coming from (is it user input in an other field, db etc)?
2. what are you doing with this value after it is set to the hidden field?

These questions should tell you which way to proceed.

Finally I am able to do it with simple inline callout as the requirement was changed & we needed to populate multiple values in select list.
