Preview in English and French

We have DCRs in English and French.

When a user previews a DCR in English, he should have to an option to select French language option on the page. When user selects French option French version of page should display.

How can I achieve this ? Can I include English and French DCRs together while previewing ? I mean, English or French DCR is selected for preview and preview XSL will load both English and French DCRs. Selected language version can be displayed and other one is hidden.

Is this possible ? If yes, what functionality can help achieve this ? If not, how can I achieve this ?

Are you using LSDS? This is very easy in LSDS, if not then you have a lot of development to do.

Please let me know, what can I do ? DO I use iw_load_DCR functionality of TPL ? I am creating XSL presentation template. Can we use TPL tags in XSL template ?

No - you can not use TPL tags within XSL templates. You can embed XSL within TPL PTs - but you're probably better off going either with a completely TPL or completely XSL solution.

Either way, since you're baking your HTML on the authoring side, this just boils down to generating a proper link to the french equivalent. LSCS or no LSCS, you should be able to reach out to the dependency manager to find out what the alternate language DCR is named (presuming you're using the OOTB localization feature) (although you'll need a Java hook for that, thus XSL is probably easiest) and then generate your link from that.

Is it one DCR with both English & French content or two DCRs, one with English and the other with French content?

In the case of the former (single DCR) - you would probably have to generate two output files with the hyperlinks between them being relative in order for them to work.

In the case of the latter (dual DCRs) there are a bunch of implementation details that would need to be understood: like path / file naming conventions, whether you want to generate the output pages from both at the same time or accept that the link to the other language should be pointing to an already existing version of the page - and whether that should be within the authoring (TeamSite) environment or the published environment, etc.

Either option should be possible with either type of PT (TPL or XSL) - but, as they say: "the devil is in the details" - and the details are not clear to us, hopefully they're clear to you...
