HOTFOLDERS: Any way to add username as prefix or suffix

Hi,

Is there anyway to add the username of the user, who adds assets into the hotfolder, as a PREFIX or SUFFIX to the file name of the asset?

Or is there anyway thru workflow? tasks?

For eg, if 'alan' uploads 'paper.jpg' then the hotfolder's rule is to copy the asset as 'paper-alan.jpg' or 'alan-paper.jpg' into MB.

Please advice.

Yes, you have to create a HF Configuration for each user and managing these many configurations is difficult.

The same can be achieved with the LO Workflows. May I know the use case for this? Because having assets in DAM with user names is not a good idea I think.

Hi Ravi, Thanks again. The use case is as follows:
All the users will use hot folders to upload their assets, and there will be a master user who approves/rejects the assets. The master user need to know who uploaded it from the asset.

If using HF, I might go about this use case is to use a different task for each user in combination of the HF config for each user.

Have a different task for each user HF config, task adds a metadata field with the users name as a value.

Another workaround would be each user is having his own folder to drop the files. You can create a source HotFolder and under this Source HF have folder structure for users. Only MediaBin Server service account and folder owner will have the permissions so that user cannot access other's folder.

On the HF MediaBin Destination folder, a similar folder structure will be created. Once the approver approves it, the asset can be moved a desired folder.
