PLC workflow - what does the Validating Files task do?

I notice this task in the PLC workflow. As far as I can tell - it does nothing.

Every once in a while I get some file stuck at this task. I can restart as many workflows, have others (teamsite masters) start and still stuck.

This happened to business line on a .page file too. So now I am conisdering simply removing this from the mix.

Anyone knows what it does? Thoughts?

That task references a java bean ValidationTask which is defined in:

./TeamSite/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/etc/conf/livesite/resources/workflow-resource-config.xml

You may want to drop the jar into a decompiler and see if you can figure out what this task does.

Actually I dropped livesite.jar into a decompiler and it rejects private files, incomplete DCRs and pages with overlapping components.

You can drop it but I would not.

If you are using this task as a CGI task, and the job has one or more invalid-files(1) then you should a screen ((with "Next" and "Cancel" buttons)) from where you can choose "Next" incase if you/ business still want to continue deploying the rest of the files, by skipping invalid-files, however if files are valid then current task will transition to next task automatically.

But if you are using this task as an External/ URL External task, please change it to CGI task to see above expected behaviour. Because for External/ URL External task the java code should have explicit chooseTransition() method in code generally to transition. As com.interwoven.livesite.workflow.web.task.ValidationWebTask file doesn't have that line of code, so it may always stuck here though the files are valid/ invalid.
