Launchpad 7.4.1 jar on 7.3.2 ?
nipper
Curious if anyone was stupid enough to try this.
We have 7.3.2 on Solaris. Customers all over the world with corporate restrictions on Java. Many cannot use 1.6 (which is supported by 732).
1.7 JRE *mostly* works, except when you import sometime the scrollbar takes up the complete scroll window and thus you can only get a part of the directory you are looking at. It is intermittent, working on some directories and not others. The issue does not exist on JRE 1.6
7.4.1 supports 1.7 and the scrollbar works as advertised.
Interestingly enough I took a dev server, copied the launchpad.jar from the 741 install and replaced the 732 version. Launchpad seems to function correctly and the bug is gone.
I know this is a horrid idea and I am an idiot for contemplating it, but has anyone else tried it ? If so results ?
The upgrade from 7.2.1 to 7.3.2 was quite painful (this server started originally on TS 4.0) so there is little appetite for a move to 7.4.1
I will post later for those of you who like to watch a train wreck.

We were intrigued by this idea and contacted support. Supposedly they have updated the 7.3.2 jar to work with Java 7 as well. We have the updated jar but have not installed it yet.
It may be available on the download site or you may need to contact support. They provided us a private link to it so it may not be on the download site just yet.
Just thought I would toss that info out. Will update after we get it installed.
Thanks,
Mark

This did work. I loaded it on a test server. I have not (and probably won't) go live with it, customer was not thrilled with this solution. But we will see when people are forced to upgrade to Java 1.7 and may revisit this.
