Date preservation on import?
brooke
When importing a group of files into TeamSite, some of which have been altered and some not, is there a way to preserve the original date values of the ones that have not been altered?
We have users who will be re-importing folders of files into TeamSite all at once, and only some of the files within each folder will have been altered. For purposes of our site's search engine, we'd like to preserve the older datestamp of the files that have been not been altered (as a "Last Modified" of sorts).
I thought there might be some sort of config file that would allow us to do this. Any help would be VERY appreciated!

I don't believe there is any functionality for this in the present system (feel free to contact Interwoven Support to have a feature request filed).
However... you could probably do this with OpenDeploy if the files being imported are in the same directory tree structure as the ones in TeamSite. OpenDeploy can perform comparisons of the two directory trees and make sure to only deploy those files which are changed and newer (or changed period if desired). Though if you're trying to do this with filelists, OpenDeploy won't help you because it doesn't perform comparisons between the source and target areas with filelist deployments.
Another option - is tools like BeyondCompare - also assuming identical directory tree structures - it will allow you to run a comparison between two locations and selectively (manually) choose to copy files from one location to the other. I don't believe its free, so you'll have to weigh your needs with your pockets as to whether or not you want to go that route.
(NOTE: the above is NOT an official endorsement of BeyondCompare by Interwoven - it's just MY PERSONAL opinion based on the few times that I've used it to selectively synchronize directory trees over networks)
