Teamsite 7.5 install on Windows 2012 is failing

Summary

I am installing TeamSite 7.5 and the install states that it was successful but there is not GUI.

Update 1 - Inital :

I just installed TeamSite on a VM and iwserver.log contains :-

[Thu Jun 04 18:54:38 2015] ERROR: iwserver did not come up in 600 seconds
[Thu Jun 04 18:54:38 2015] ERROR: Please look at d:\Interwoven\TeamSite\local\logs\iwtrace.log for more information
OS Version: NT 6.2 (build 9200)

The permchk,exe is throwing an erro in the intall log

Update 2 : - 9th June 2015

It would see that the application are failing to deploy because they cannot connect to TeamSite.

For example iw-preview.failed states it could not connect to TeamSite server.

Please note the Y: drive is running.

Error connecting to IR means that JBOSS is not running.

Is it ?

JBOSS is runnning on 8080 and checked with netstat.

It seem like something is blocking on the VM!?

Odd as the service has started and there is something listening on port 8080.

It looks like cssdk_services.war was not deployed and there are other errors on the deployment folder.

ok this install not looking good I have started to deploy the application manually. I deployed the following apps :-

activemq..

cssdk...

emulator...

eventsub...

iw-basicreporting...

iw-registry..

I then deployed iw-wcmweb.ear and it failed with the following error and again it cannot connect to the server :-

I got a similar error when dropped iw-cc.war.dodeploy :-

Yes, it sounds like JBoss is trying to come up but the iwserver isn't there. You should be looking at iwserver.log and iwtrace.log for clues -- the Java piece comes later.

But JBOSS should be able to come up w/o TeamSite. It is installed before TS.

Agreed, JBoss as a service should come up but iw-cc.war as a webapp will not without iwserver (which seems to be the issue with the latest stack traces full of CSExceptions).

Maybe OP should restate the current state and issue we're actually troubleshooting here, because originally this was about iwserver not starting.

I think I am making progress as I can install TeamSite with extra steps. It seems that TeamSite is not starting correctly and hence the applications are not being deployed. There is another thread which provided the solution.

I think the root cause is either permission or start order of services.

To install I carried out the following steps

1. Install Teamsite and other components.

2. Reboot but do not start installer.

3. Kill of the Jboss process as it foobar.

4. Check Jbos service has stopped.

5. Stop TeamSite

6. Run a command prompt and execite iwserver.exe <iw-store>

7. Check iw-trace.log, address any issues and repeat step 6.

8. Start TeamSite

9. Move all the application tag files out of the deployment directory.

10. Start Jboss.

11. Drop application deploy files (only *.dodeploy) files bacl iink and check they all chaneg to *.deployed.

12. Start Jboss

13. Continue.

However, Teamsite does not start correctly after a reboot so I need to get to the root cause.

I'm a support engineer with HP and I wanted to let you know that we're aware of this issue and have been working with Microsoft to get a definitive resolution. The issue is due to some unspecified changes in Windows 2012 that conflict with permissions settings that we have disabled in iwserver. This is preventing the TeamSite service from opening the listening ports, which is why iwstat fails and JBoss cannot connect.

It only happens after a reboot of the server and it does NOT happen on ALL instances of Windows 2012.

The workaround is to start iwserver manually from a command prompt - iwserver C:\iw-store.

Kill the iwserver process.

Remove C:\iw-store\TSRunning and any LOCK* files under C:\iw-store\default, C:\iw-store\iw-admin, and C:\iw-store\workflow.

You should then be able to start the service normally and restart JBoss.

The service should continue to work until the next reboot.

If this is the first reboot during an installation, you should be able to restart the installer at this point to complete the installation.

I've just been notified that a patch is being released for this. There will be patches for 7.4.1 (7.4.3 will contain the fix - if you need ie9 contact support, ref TS-25403), 7.5 (requires 7.5.0.1, ref TS-25404) and 8 (8.0.1 will contain the fix, ref TS-25405 ).
