Handling multi-line Extended Attributes?

Hi,

I know that the subjectMetadata0 EA is a single line, but the following key TeamSite/LiveSite/DeploymentAudit seems to be multiline. What I want to do is to copy the contents out from the backing store along with the EA for each file into a text file, then read it back in to another backing store, and reapply the EA. Is there any suggestion for this? Having trouble with the multi-line part.... as the text file I have has the following format:

filename
eakey
eavalue(multi-line value)
eakey
eavalue
...
filename
eakey
eavalue(multi-line value)
eakey
eavalue
...

Try using the XML format of output / input to iwextattr (the '-x' flag)

I put in a beginning marker for the ea value and an ending marker for the ea value, although that might not be the most elegant way to do it.

I'm not sure I understand what you did - and whether it really works well.

Did you understand what I was talking about? Did you try it? It would probably save you a considerable amount of time and effort over hacking your own solution.
