The network name cannot be found

On one of the dev server, I am facing an issue when trying to read the DCR in the datasource with the path  - //<servername>/default/main/<branchname>/WORKAREA/wa, I get the below stack trace when trying to parse the dcr.

 

org.dom4j.DocumentException: \\<servername>\default\main\<branchname>\WORKAREA\wa\templatedata\Content\Article\data\articles.xml (The network name cannot be found).

 

If I try to replace server name with Y:/ no exceptions are received. This was an existing functionality on the same server working fine till last week  with the <servername> but no more working now. As it is dev server so multiple people change the configurations not sure where exactly to point to. I have verified cssdk.cfg and everything is fine there moreover it was not updated recently. Any Suggestions?

I'd suggest you compare with an environment that works, but my guess is you can no longer resolve the current hostname as "servername" because (probably by accident) \\servername\default would actually work if "servername" resolved to the current host and "default" was a valid file share at that path as would (probably) be the case on a OOTB windows install.

 

Just because it worked doesn't mean it's right though. Going over the networking interface probably killed your performance. The "correct" solution, making some assumptions about context, would be to resolve the InputStream via CSSDK rather than going to the file system.
