Versioning templating.cfg

Good Morning All,

We have a specific requirement to version templating.cfg or as a matter of fact any configuration file.

I have gone through one post wherein user created a custom admin branch to manage configuration files on local disk. Can anyone give some pointers on how to go ahead with this?

Is it possible to change the location of templating.cfg in iwutild.cfg to a workarea?

Create a workflow which deploys templating.cfg and other cfgs from admin branch to default locations.

In your iwadmin store (to keep it out of the view of your users), you can create a branch specifically for your config files. You can manage and control all the config files you have access on your filesystem to update. Create the same relative path structure (using tshome and odhome, etc as your docroots) within the workarea as on your filesystem and copy the config files you want to manage into this workarea. Then you'll need an OpenDeploy configuration that deploys all the config files to their proper target path on the filesystem. You will likely need multiple definitions - one for each target path. Then create a workflow that executes this deployment, or just run the deployment from the OD Admin.

Just remember once you put this in place not to update your config files on the filesystem anymore, or the changes will likely be overwritten the next time anyone runs the config deployment.
