Deploy Task Query

Hello,
I am using workflow modeler to do a content deployment to a target environment.
I basically want to deploy the attached files using the deploy task.
Now in the deploy task I know that there is an option to provide the deployment descriptor file wherein I can specify the files to be deployed.
My query is if I want to get the attached file to deploy using the deploy task,how can I pass that filename to the deployment descriptor or is there any other way to achieve this.
Can anyone give an idea on this please.

Have you used OpenDeploy before? WFM? Have you written any tasks using the CSSDK? Some other language?

It seems like you have very little experience with all this and it would help to know your comfort/training level.

There's not a whole lot of documentation on the DeployTask, but it appears to be just an ExternalTask. You will likely need to write custom code to create a filelist deployment - that's what we have done. If you're doing a comparison deployment, you may be able to call the DeployURLExternalTask directly.

"appears" leads me to believe you're not 100% sure, so I'll just confirm. The DeployTask object in WFM is nothing more than a URLExternalTask that supports success/failure transitions instead of default transitions, and with a name/icon that's more meaningful to someone viewing your model. It's syntactic sugar and nothing more.

And as Smitty said, the OOTB sample deployment class only supports comparison deployments. You do indeed have to roll your own code if you want to generate a file list and deploy based on that. However if you're using SitePub, the PLC workflow has a filelist-based deployment task OOTB and should be your starting point, but I don't believe you can use it outside of a SitePub implementation because of its dependency on the existence of a site in the workarea.
