LSCS load balancer clustering

I am looking for documentation on LSCS clustering configuration on a load balancer scenario. Can anyone point me to detailed steps to setup master slave nodes in a load balanced cluster.

However, from what I understand of your question, it is not documented, but is a fairly common setup. There are 12 ways to do things (at least), but start with, how would I cluster Tomcat servers?

I am not sure what you mean by clustering tomcat.

As per my understanding we can configure multiple lscs runtime nodes in a master slave configuration sharing a single persistent repository. We also need to configure a distributed IDOL setup (mirrored/non mirrored) for that repository using DIH/DAH setup.

I was just wondering if someone can provide me with recommendations based on project case studies.

LSCS runs inside a servlet container. Tomcat is probably most common, but it could be Weblogics, Webshepere or DotNet. To cluster LSCS, you need to cluster the container.

LSCS also uses Idol and an RDBMS. Idol is configured 1 for 1, with LSCS, so when you cluster it, you will have multiple instances of Idol. They will still be 1 for 1 with LSCS, and each will have to run import when content is pushed, but you will have multiple Idol repositories.

As to the relationship, there is some flexibility, none of which is documented, that you can implement if you are creative enough. This is not supported, but it works pretty well, once you figure out the nuances.

If I understand it clearly what you are saying is to replicate LSCS Runtime apps which replicates the IDOL instances underneath. We will then have to update lscs-conf.properties to point to its individual db instances as shown underneath.
LSCS1 => IDOL1 => DB1
LSCS2 => IDOL2 => DB2
We did thought about this but an optimal solution will be go with standalone idol installations which can be load balanced using DIH/DAH. Autonomy do have enough documentation supporting that.

Probably can be done. But there are a lot of gothas you will need to look out for. I did something similar and it was NOT trivial. Think how data gets in there and if you have 2 LSCS pushing the same content into 1 Idol instance. Not pretty. So there is a lot to work though. It can be done, but none of it is documented (from the LSCS perspective)

I think with DIH/DAH you would deploy content to 1 (or more ) master LSCS instance which would manage the idol index.

The other LSCS instances would be configured to access the master (as slaves).

We're looking to try this. The doc as usual is minimal.
