MediaBin 8.0.3 - Unable to upload

Hello,

I've installed Mediabin Server along with IDOL, web services on Server A and have now installed MediaBin 8.0.3 on Server B. I am able to login with the main account and navigate around the UI without issue EXCEPT for the fact that I am unable to upload any files.

I click on the "Click here to upload" button/dropdown box and nothing happens. Well I shouldn't say nothing happens when in fact a small checkbox appears under the "Click here to upload".

I've configured the FTP client using the Network service, assigned the read/write permissions and such.

Has anyone ever seen this before and or have any advice on what this could be? I've attached a screenshot of what it looks like.

Hi Zapper,

Have you created any Upload actions? I could not see it in the attached screenshot. The actions will be listed under Administration tab.

An Upload action needs to be created to upload the files to MediaBin and Download action is needed to download the files.

You can run CreateVMBActions.vbs script from VBScripts folder of MediaBin Server to get these actions created.

Once the actions are created, you need make sure that Staging (for uploads) and MBFTP (for downloads) folders are shared correctly with required sharing and security permissions.

If no upload actions are not getting listed when you click on "Click here to Upload" button means, actions are not created.

Hi ravirajmedida,

Thanks for the info. I somehow missed that step and after I did not run into any problems with the 64 bit Windows instructions.

Now when I click on the "Click here to upload" button, I am shown an error message "An error occurred while performing the requested operation. Please contact your system administrator".

Where can I find the logs for further details and for debugging?

I've tried modifying the upload rule (which I can) with no luck and the permissions on the FTP seem to be good. Thoughts?

Just to provide an update - I found the log file under:

C:\MediaBin\ApplicationContainer\server\default\log

Looking into the richmedia.txt log file, I came across this:

2014-05-27 15:42:54,832 [http-0.0.0.0-8080-11] ERROR com.interwoven.ui.richmedia.workflow.action.WorkflowController () - Server was unable to process request. ---> Access to the path '\\{hidden}\Staging\Uploads\{b00ebf03-7b96-4551-aa9d-20c42ecc6233}\' is denied. Check that permissions are set correctly on the parent folder.

The {hidden} is my server name which I've removed but it apparently is a permission issue which is odd.

Both the directories:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MediaBin Server\MBWebServer\MBFTP
C:\Program Files (x86)\MediaBin Server\MBWebServer\Staging

have read/write/modify properties for the Network Service account AND the account that is running the MediaBin Server service as well.

Guess I need to fiddle around with it - thanks for the help again.

also, its recommended not to install applications in C drive

Yes, its a permissions issue on Shared folders. Have FULL permissions (under Sharing and Security) to MediaBin Server service account on these MBFTP and STAGING shared folders is recommended than to Network Service account.

Its recommended to have the AppPool running the MediaBin WebServices same as the MediaBin Server service account.

I'll try a few more things and if no solution is found, I'll raise a ticket with support.

My original install was on our app drive but I've ran into so many issues with this proof of concept that I wanted to keep it simple and use all the defaults to ensure that potential problems were minimized.

Is this still an issue even after verifying the STAGING shared folder permissions? Did you check the points I mentioned in my previous response?

Installation path should not be an issue at all in this case.

Hi Ravi,

Followed your instructions and everything worked. I changed the network service account to the domain service account that is used to run Mediabin Server and it's up and going so thank you for the suggestions and help.
