User can't transition tasks

Has anyone ever experienced a condition in which a user *cannot* transition an assigned task? In our workflow, the user in question is a member of the assigned group (it's a group task) and TeamSite lists this user as the owner of the task. However, he is not able to transition the task. Any ideas? We are on TeamSite 5.5.2, sp2 on Win2K.

Is this a new workflow? Do you want to post it so people can look at it? If it's not a new one, then what changed? Did you just upgrade to SP2? Any hints on what you've tried, what's changed, or what you suspect would be helpful.

Did the user first take ownership of the task? They have to do that before they can transition it?

Is this Windows or Unix? On Windows - there have been situations where a user's name may get specified without the DOMAIN\ prefix and some aspects of TeamSite will allow/assume that "john" is the same as "MYDOMAIN\john" - but other parts of the system will not. So you need to make sure that the DOMAIN\ prefix is used throughout the system (if you're on Windows)
