MediaBin 8.1 IDOL Summary field customization

Hi,

without using autonomy proces automation /liquid office, can we customize IDOL summary field.

By defauly IDOL summary metadata fileld populated with lot of data and we would like to restrict to few.
for ex: keyword1, keyword2, keyword 3.. till keyword10.

IDOL Summery will be generated for text based documents (PDFs and MS-Office) based on an internal IDOL functionality using KeyView.

This summery will not be generated for any other image/video formats. You can set the permissions on IDOL Summery Metadata field if you would like to restrict.

Do you want to customize the "IDOL Summery" generated by IDOL? Or customizing the "IDOL Summery" metadata field to display part of "IDOL Summery"?

In any case, it's not possible without doing an metadata revision on IDOL Summery metadata field using a workflow. And customizing this field does not make any sense as the document content varies from document to document; and lots of processing is needed with workflow to set needed keywords.

our exisitng MB4.6.2 is integrated with Teamsite and Metatagger.

Keywords metadata field in MB is populated from Metatagger (10 keywords , comma seperated).

TS will import the assets from with metadata including keywords. These assets will be posted to our web.

Users search the assets over web using these keywords.

Since we are planning to upgrade to MB 8.1 and we noticed that IDOL is replaced with Metatagger and hence keywords metadata field wont populate any records (i have also integrated 8.1 with MT and noticed that keywords field not populating for PDFs). this will lead in empty keywords.

IDOL Summary field can be used but it is populationg with metadata as sentences.

We would like to have same keywords field populated with 10 keywords by IDOL OR can we edit IDOL config file or any other file to reduce the metadata count to few words instead of sentences..

Please let me know if this is possible.

IDOL is not the replacement of MetaTagger on MB 7.x or 8.x versions. IDOL is for Search functionality.

Are the settings of MetaTagger correct in MEM? Is the same MetaTaggers works good with MB 4.6.2?

MediaBin populates the KeyWords metadata field if the document has the values.

IDOL Summery Field will be populated with MS-Office and PDF document content. This cannot be customized out of the box.

yes MT is working fine with 4.6.2.

all the settings are correct to MT w.r.t 8.1.

MT is populating keywords for doc and ppt documents within 8.1. but its not genereating for PDFS.

i have opened a case with support earliear and i got reply stating that Metatagget is not tested with 8x.

i wonder if not tested why there is a say in administration document for metatagget settings.

also, support confirmed me that IDOL is replaced with Metatatagger for metadata/taxonomy generation.

As informed earlier Metatagger is not tested with VMB803 [Engineering has confirmed the same]. In current version of MediaBin, metadata of a file and its contents are indexed using IDOL component. And IDOL support all search functionality in MediaBin Web Client.

Yes, as a product MetaTagger is changed with IDOL Taxonomy Solution and Autonomy Collaborative Client. IDOL Taxonomy solution is different from the IDOL shipped with MediaBin
