Insert Canonocal tags in .aspx page

Hi Experts,

We have a requirement to add canonical tags on the generated .aspx pages in TeamSite.

We are using only TeamSite and no Sitepublisher & LiveSite.

For rendering the page we are using IIS.

Any idea how can we add canonical tag dynamically when we are deploying the pages.

When we deploy the page using the workflow, can we use an external to open(parse) the page and then insert the canonical tag ?

Or is their any other suitable method.

If you are generating the asp pages with PTs (especially if using TPLs, though I believe also possible with XSLs) you can add whatever you want into, and/or onto the files being generated.

But there are a major chunk of Pages which have already been generated and authored.

Are you looking to apply EAs onto the generated files, or insert metadata into the generated files?

I'm assuming it's the latter.

As such - if theses are files that were generated from DCRs using PTs - the PT is the way to insert the information into the files.

If you fix that so, going forward, it will all be done for you - then you can write a smallish program to retrofit existing generated pages - either directly (e.g.: parse and modify) or indirectly (e.g.: regenerate the page using the updated PT)

If it's something else altogether, please explain - in detail - what you are trying to accomplish.

We are trying to add the meta tags called as canonical tags.

For already generated pages we would be achieving it using a script.

Later on we shall add them in the PT.
