Increase Title character length

Hi,

 

Is there anyway to increase the number of characters on the Title attribute from the page settings menu of a livesite page? Currently it supports 120 characters. Is there any config files to manage what to appear on the page settings pop-up window and manage the fields and its settings?

 

Any help is much appreciated.

A quick look shows that it's just some JavaScript that's enforcing it - the backend looks like it just accepts a standard string.

 

The page generated by PageProperties.do has the following:

 

function pagePropertiesForm_required () { 
     this.a0 = new Array("pageProperties.title", "Title is a required field.", new Function ("varName", "this.minlength='1'; this.maxlength='120';  return this[varName];"));
}

Warning: You can't change it without customising TeamSite which introduces problems due to lack of support/upgrading etc.

 

However, if you decide to proceed you could either update the existing code or, given they are global objects, add some additional JavaScript, that executes after theirs, to replace the function with your own.

 

The final page is located "[iw-home]\ApplicationContainer\server\default\deploy\iw-cc.war\livesite\Site\Page\Edit\PagePropertiesForm.jsp" in TeamSite 7.4.1. I don't know where the JS is located/generated. However, you should not make changes to that file, or related files. Instead copy it/them to the relative location under "[iwhome][iw-home]\TeamSite\local\config\lib\content_center\customer_src\web\". For example, the file above would be "[iwhome][iw-home]\TeamSite\local\config\lib\content_center\customer_src\web\livesite\Site\Page\Edit\PagePropertiesForm.jsp".

 

Then run "make_toolkit.ipl". Details about this command can be found on these forums or in the user manuals.
