Encryption activation via key_file failed!

OD 5.5 W2K

When deploying using a config file that is like this...

...stuff...
<deploymentConfiguration >
<localNode host="MR100" keyFile="C:\test" />
...more stuff...

The deployment craps out and I get a log file that has this

(2) client: Checking keyfile(C:\test) with other side.
ERROR: Encryption activation via key_file failed!
ENG: 2003-01-02 16:02:47 EST GMT-05:00 Thread-128 After SETUP, res=-1

the C:\test file just has...

...in it

Any clue to why I get that Error?

(it does see they key file...if it doesn't that's a different error)

Did you copy the exact same file to your target (Receiver) server and add the keyFile entry to the Receiver's server configuration file and restart the OpenDeploy processes? (for loop-back deployments the changes need to go into the Base Server's configuration file)

If not - it won't work.

I was doing a test using the same server as the the Sender and Receiver. I thought I did everything right but I think the Key here is that when adding the key file entry to the odbase.xml I had to restart the OD service to reread odbase.xml.

There might be a way/CLT to reread the odbase.xml file without having to resart the OD service (kind of like iwreset) but I haven't found that if there is one.

There's an iwodserverreset CLT - but I don't recall if it resets things sufficiently to pick up that change in the odbase.xml. I think it does, but I can't say for sure.

Give it a whirl and let us know.

The following elements and their attributes in the base server and receiver configuration file are not
refreshable:
• localNode (<- This is where the keyFile="" entry would go)
• initiatorProperties
• listenerProperties
• transportProperties
• schedulerProperties

To make the server read and implement changes in these elements, you must restart your
OpenDeploy services or daemons.

I think you can also place keyFile settings down near the allowedDirectories section - and in that case it might actually work with with the CLT.
