Mediabin 8.1 - improvements over 8.0.3?

Hello,

We currently have Mediabin 8.0.3 installed and were wondering (without having to download the 8.1 app and installing it) if there were any improvements made in the area of the UI for mediabin 8.1? 8.0.3 is okay but it's a look/feels a little old compared to the more modern web applications out there. I've looked for documentation on the HP site but it is just sales brochures that don't really show anything.

If someone could point me to a specific doc that details this as well it would be appreciate it.

Make sure that you have latest QSUs installed on 8.0.3.

UI (Look and Feel) remains same in 8.1 and few more enhancements (Administrative purpose and business user level) are available in 8.1 version.

MB 8.1 Release Notes has the details on the enhancements and fixes.

Thanks for the info Ravi. Pardon my ignorance but what are QSUs? Are those patches? I'm not in a position to access the support site to download anything as another group is in charge of doing that. It makes it hard for me to see what is available to download from the site (that's big corporation efficiency for you).

Yes. QSU, or Quick Software Update, is bascially a patch in HP/Autonomy speak.

As Ravi mentioned, the Look and Feel of the MediaBin client did not change much from 8.0.3 to 8.1. It was mostly a feature based release. There were also some performance improvements made in 8.1, including quicker log-in time.

I would like to expand on your request a bit more. There are actually many improvements to the UI in 8.1. Yes, we have added new administration features but we have also modified the UI for usability. I would be happy to walk you through a demonstration and share these with you.

Additionally, I would like to know more about look/feel compared to "modern web applications." I am open to hearing about use cases and gathering feedback from our customer base. This is what drives improvements to our applications.

Please let me know how we may share these details.
