New to Livesite

NavinKrishna

Hi All,

Coming from TeamSite 6.7.2 Templating, TPL's, WFT's background. Now since we are migrating to 7.3.2 , its now LiveSite , LSCS , LSDS , WFMs , everything is very new for me now.

However, I could able to get a good hands-on on the WFMs and LiveSite page development (component development) I lag behind to understand LSCS and LSDS concepts.

Please suggest the appropriate docs to understand the LiveSite , LSCS and LSDS architecture.

Regards

As you probably know, the vendor-provided documentation has always been more of a reference than a "how to" guide. You can probably figure out some of it by poking at a sandbox, but it will be slow and painful. That's why training exists Smiley Happy

One important recommendation -- make sure you have a solid base in Java, as most things in the "7.x ways" relies upon it. Perl/TPL/WFT is still around, but mostly only for backwards compat. All new dev should be done in Java, especially considering the upcoming changes in v8.0.

Thanks rpoulin, the Trainings are out of reach (strict budget cap), so sud relay on the guides . please suggest docs

I mean.. if they're spending that kind of money on licensing costs, you'd think they could afford the $2500 to get their staff properly trained to use it. That business case kinda writes itself, doesn't it?

The only docs you'll find are the official manuals from the customer support site. The old DevNet used to have saved copies of webinars as well -- I'm not sure where you'd go for those anymore.. Katie_H?

EDIT: Katie says they'll eventually be posted in the webinars and events forum, but it'll take some time.

Also another idea is to hack with the component guide. That is a reference LSDS site that is included. There are also LSCS sampe sites as well. Load those up and play.

Like Rick, however, training would be a hugh plus.

Thanks Rick , Thanks Andy... thumb's-up

You know, there are *actual* thumb up buttons on this new devnet Smiley Happy

But really, you should mark one or more of these posts as the 'solution' so others know this thread is effectively closed.
