Teamsite Discussion Board - Outlook Emails and Reponseure out

Couple questions:

1. Using the default views for discussion board (Subject and Flat views) because anytime I mess around with a new view, the site looks a mess. When I have alerts turned on, how do I get it so the person's email address (person who posts or modifies a discussion message) show up in the email?

2. Does anyone know how to setup outlook so when you reply to the message, it posts to the board AND sends an email to the end user? I know how to do both, but can't figure out to do a quick step that would do both "post reply" and "reply" to email of user.

I know #2 can be solved by telling the end user to turn on alert's for themseleves, but trying to configure this so we don't have to instruct others to do anything else (i.e. create their own alerts)

Neither of those questions makes sense. Forums don't give out people's email addresses, and I wouldn't participare on any forum that does. I get enough spam as it is. If people want to be notified, they can configure their profile to do so, but you can't force that on them.

It is essentially that when someone posts into the forum, we have it configured to send us a notification. Within outlook, we can connect directly to the forum and respond either by "reply to post".. or you can select reply and it will route the response to their associated email address.

This is a help forum where they can post questions, and a lot of the end users don't know how to configure alerts. We were hoping to have our response to their answer go to both their post in the forum and to their email box. It wouldn't send an email to everyone in the forum. Just the person who submitted the question.

I don't have email notifications turned on, so you're saying it does that currently, or you'd like it to?

I could see this type of tightly integrated feature on an internal corporate forum, but not on a public one. If someone posts a question and then never bothers to check if they got any answers, isn't that their own problem to solve (i.e. by subscribing to notifications)? And there's already instructions for that in the "first time here" forum.
