TagUI not retaining history of file asset

When replacing a pdf file in Teamsite that was tagged with the TagUI, all the previous tagging is removed and all the fields are blank. Is there a way to change this behavior so it keeps the last file's version of metadata? Thanks.

Please elaborate on the process used for "replacing a pdf file".

When we use the import command through the Teamsite UI. Also if we replace a file using samba, the previous meta-tagging does appear.

Configuring ContentCenter Extended Attribute Behavior upon Import
By default, when a file is imported into a TeamSite workarea replacing a file of the same name in that workarea, no extended attributes (metadata) associated with the previous version of that file are preserved and associated with the newly imported version.

To configure the ContentCenter GUIs to preserve extended attributes associated with an older version of a file in a workarea being replaced by an imported file, edit
