Change replicant order default?

I have a request by my content editors to change the default replicant behavior.

When one clicks the plus action of a replicant the new item by default appears below the top replicant item.

I know one can change the order by selecting the up arrow but it would be preferable if this just happened by default, is this doable?

I've searched the forums but could find not topic addressing this.

Not quite. The new instance appears beneath the instance whose "+" you clicked.

Frankly, I don't know how anything else would be more intuitive, but whatever. Use the onReplicantAdded event in combination with a setTimeout and IWItem.moveInstance(). The setTimeout is required because that event is fired slightly before the DOM is updated, so attempting to move the instance immediately would result in errors.

I'd say a more intuitive approach would be for onReplicantAdded to reposition the browser window to focus on the new instance, but that requires going into unsupportedland unless you limit yourself to using IWItem.setFocus().

You can perhaps try to control replicants' inserting yourself.

To do that intercept "beforeAdd" Event, use setTimeout to execute (a bit later) function
with IWItem.addInstance(1) and return false to suppress "native plus" functionality.

That said, I would probably second Rick on the note that OTB Behavior is more intuitive.

Hi nico, I'm also trying to accomplish this same thing. In my case, the replicant has a date field and so I want the replicants sorted by date (most recent first). Have you had any luck?

You should read the follow on posts. Your behavior can be created with FormAPI, Boris and Rick explain how. The value of that behavior is questionable at best.
