Compare and prevent equal selections in replicant fields?

TS 6.7.2

Looking for some options or to see if there is any OTB functionality to compare fields that are in replicants in a DCT. The DCT fields will be written to a DB and I need to prevent the users from selecting the same choice in the select-dropdowns in the individual replicants and not publish if this is the case. I'm assuming some type of comparison validation on the DCT at the onSave event? Or even better an onChange event when the user makes a selection? Has anyone done anything like that before? Thanks.

logic to check if two replicants item has duplicated values onSave event:

var len = [Get the length of the replicant];
for (var i = 0; i < (len - 1); i++) {
var item1 = [Fetch the Item's value in the replicant you want to compare with];
if (item1! = "") {
for (var j = (i + 1); j < len; j++) {
var item2 = [Fetch the Item's value in the replicant you want to compare against];
if (item1 == item2) {
//We have some duplicated values...give an alert and return false
}
}
}
}

A more efficient way to do it - especially if you have a large number of replicants, would probably be more like this:

    var len = /* Get the length of the replicant */;
var hash = new Object;
    var msg = '';
    for (var i = 0; i < len; i++) {
        var val = /* replicant instance's value */;
if (val in hash) {
            msg += "Value '"+val + "' is duplicated.\n";
            /* mark replicant instance value as invalid */;
        }
        else {
            hash[val] = 1;
        }
    }
    if (msg != '') {
        alert(msg);
        return false;
    }
    return true;
}
